Two old friends
We found each other again
In a hot kitchen, surrounded by so many others
We sit and fantasize about the lives in which we have certainly known each other
The past tying us together
We get to know each other again
Drinking beer, surrounded by so many others
Time passes and we are no longer fantasizing about past lives
We marry our current lives together, into one
Tears stream down my face as I vow to love you forever, surrounded by so many others
Our family grows and my belly swells
You rub my feet, fill my water, and make me my favorite snack
We welcome a baby boy under the harsh hospital lights
More tears stream down my face as we take a new baby home, both scared shitless, surrounded by a few others
Two old friends, we’ve reacquainted as if no time has passed
In a warm bed, surrounded by no others
I see your face in the warm glow of our salt lamp
In the room we share, right next to the baby we had together
You look at me with your eyes wide, and I see every small freckle that adorns your beautiful face
We tell our deepest darkest secrets, in our warm bed, like having a sleepover with an old friend
And once again, tears stream down my face as my heart breaks at the thought of how much I love you
